It didn't have to be so dramatic. After a head start 3-0, the double Thiago Monteiro and Hugo Hoyama gave in to a tie and had one match point against them. However, they managed to pull themselves together and, with the support of the crowd, won 4-3 (11-4,11-8,6-11,5-11,3-11,12-10) their first match for the doubles tournament against the Koreans, Cho Eon Era and Jo Li Hoon.
Cazuo Matsumoto and Gustavo Tsuboi, the other Brazilian double, also won their match for W.O. because Marc Duran and Alfredo Carneros form
The match was worth it to cheer up the supporters who were a bit upset with the defeats in the Singles' tournament.
"I was more into the game than I was for my single match so, I played better. Even when it was 3-0 we knew that it wasn't decided yet, because the Koreans study their opponents during the match and suddenly, when you least expect it, they turn the score around. It has been a while since we last played this well", Thiago Monteiro declared.
Hugo Hoyama believes that each victory on this doubles' competition is important for their preparation to the Pan-American Games in 2007.
"Now we are going to show those brats (Tsuboi and Cazuo) who is the boss around here", joked Thiago.
