The Croatian, Tamara Boros, the best ranked player taking part of the Brazilian Open, was eliminated of the competition. She lost to the young French player, Caroe Grundisch, 4 sets to 2, partials 11/5, 10/12, 11/6, 13/11 and 10/12.

The result isn't exactly that unexpected, since the 19-year-old French has been getting a number of positive results, which the icing of the cake was the title she won in Bremen. "I already knew I'd have to face tough opponents here, so, when I saw the group I was in I had to quickly realize that my first game would be against Tamara. I thought: well, if it has to be like this, better to be with the best of them all", she joked. "Now that I've won, I'm very happy, very proud of myself".

Carole will, in the second stage of the competition, have to face the Korean Ni Yun Yu, who defeated the Brazilian player Ligia Silva; and she still thinks she has to improve her style. "If I manage to correct some mistakes, who knows if I can reach the final".
